Humble Beginnings
The first proposal for the University of Houston - Clear Lake Archives was drafted in November 1982. It was the second half of a two-part proposal; the first half was for an oral history program intended to coincide with the celebration of the University's 10-year anniversary.
The UHCL Archives was officially established in the Neumann Library in 1989. It originally consisted of a storage area, a small reading room, an office, and a workspace.
