Growth and Change
Many changes occurred in the UHCL Archives between 2002 and 2012. During this hectic period, leadership of the UHCL Archives changed once more. In July of 2012, Lauren Meyers joined the UHCL team as University Archivist. Also a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Psychology from University of Houston and her Master of Science in Library Science from University of North Texas.
The volume of collections also grew rapidly during this period. Along with the institutional records and new JSC History Collection, the archives also began collecting materials pertaining to the Clear Lake Area. To accommodate the large of volume of material, the decision was made to remodel and expand the existing spaces. First in 2002, compact, movable shelving was installed to help accommodate the JSC History Collection. Later in November 2012, the rest of the renovations took place. Approximately 1,600 additional square feet of space was added to the existing archives. This provided space for the second vault, office, and larger reading room that are currently in use.
