Archives or Libraries?

How are archives different from the rest of the library?

Libraries concentrate their holdings on published material.  Archives will contain published material, but also preserve unpublished items such as office records, correspondence, memoirs, photographs, audio or video recordings, and artifacts.

Archives are the home of original source material.
