1966 Time Capsule

 The time capsule marker at the former Clear Lake Theater reads: 

Dedicated April 20, 1966 
On the occasion of the opening
Of the
Clear Lake Theatre 
To be opened April 20, 2016 
Entire contents to be
Presented to the
Freeman Memorial
Library

Artifacts include astronaut Charles Bassett’s speech for the dedication of Freeman Library, clippings about the theater’s opening, an enrollment projection for Clear Creek School District, a space rocket mockup, and an American flag that astronaut Charles Conrad took on a space flight and in attendance were special guest Chuck Connors and Master of Ceremonies Col. “Shorty” Powers.

The Clear Lake Theatre, on El Camino Real, was most recently Oriental Gourmet Restaurant.
