This exhibit features a brief history of the University of Houston-Clear Lake's first student newspaper, The UHCLidian, first published without a title at the then-new University of Houston at Clear Lake City in Clear Lake City [now Houston], Texas, in May 1975. This exhibit is based on a blog post by Matthew M. Peek, Associate Director of the University of Houston-Clear Lake Archives and Special Collections, entitled "The UHCLidian: UHCL's First Student Newspaper's Name Origin" published on the Archives' blog site on March 6, 2023. 

The UHCLidian's name would change to The Signal in 2007, and the UHCL student newspaper's name remains The Signal as of 2026. 

Today, all surviving issues of the UHCL UHCLidian student newspaper are available for use and research in the University of Houston-Clear Lake Archives and Special Collections in the Alfred R. Neumann Library. The collection is entitled "UHCLidian Newspaper Collection," and the collection is numbered as "UA-0-2" in the UHCL Archives' University Archives holdings. Reference copies of some of the bound versions of the newspaper issues are available in the Archives' public reading room for use on site.
